Preheat the oven to 425°F with a rack in the center.2Step 2: Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute, whisking constantly. Gradually whisk in the water until combined, then whisk in the sugar. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for 3 minutes, stirring frequently, then remove from heat. The sauce should be thick and pourable; do not overcook.3Step 3: Peel, core, and thinly slice the apples into about 1/4-inch thick slices (you should have about 7 cups). Place them in a large bowl, sprinkle with the cinnamon, and toss to combine. Pour the sauce over the apples and stir to coat.4Step 4: On a floured surface, roll out the bottom crust into a 12-inch circle. Wrap it around the rolling pin to transfer it to a 9-inch pie plate. Add the apple mixture, mounding it slightly in the center, and be careful not to get filling on the edges (which would make sealing difficult).5Step 5: Roll the second crust into an 11-inch circle and cut into 10 even strips with a pizza cutter. Arrange the strips in a woven lattice pattern over the top. Beat the egg with 1 tablespoon of water and brush the top crust with the egg wash.6Step 6: Bake at 425°F for 15 minutes. Reduce the oven temperature to 350°F and continue baking for another 45 minutes, or until the apples are soft and the filling is bubbling through the vents for at least 5 minutes and the apples are tender when pierced with a knife.7Step 7: Let the pie rest at room temperature for 2-3 hours before serving.getsaucepan.com/r/1971169c-b784-415f-9969-2808237cc158 · Original: https://natashaskitchen.com/apple-pie-recipe/
