1. 1Step 1: Fry the cut ham or bacon in a skillet until crispy. If using ham, a splash of neutral oil may be needed. Drain the meat on a paper towel-lined plate and set aside; drain the fat.
2. 2Step 2: In a stock pot, warm the neutral oil over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook until translucent, about 3-5 minutes.
3. 3Step 3: Add the diced carrots and celery to the pot and cook for 1 minute, stirring often.
4. 4Step 4: Add the pork broth, water, diced potatoes, and green beans. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to simmer.
5. 5Step 5: Once simmering, add the marjoram, salt, and pepper.
6. 6Step 6: Let simmer for roughly 20 minutes or until the potatoes can be pierced with a fork.
7. 7Step 7: Add the bacon and simmer for 5 minutes, then serve.
