Grind most of the spices in a blender for better flavour and colour if you like.5Step 5: Cook the spices out properly, lowering the heat and taking a little longer to avoid a bland dish that tastes like raw spices.6Step 6: Add the finely chopped tomatoes and cook until softened.7Step 7: Add the cooked lentils and enough water to make a thin soup. Season with sea salt and pepper to taste.8Step 8: Stir in butter or ghee if using, and simmer gently.9Step 9: Garnish with chopped coriander leaf and/or green onion or chives.10Step 10: Serve the dal in its own separate bowl, never poured over the rice, with boiled or steamed rice and accompaniments like Indian chutney, curd, a green vegetable, or pickle.getsaucepan.com/r/5bb71c97-edcd-451e-a43c-467c2de371a7 · Original: https://worldtravelfamily.com/dal-bhat-recipe/
