Texas-Style Barbecue Sauce

1. 1Step 1: Heat the oil in a saucepan over medium flame. Add the onion and garlic and saute until the onion is translucent and just starting to turn golden, 4 or 5 minutes. Stir in the chili powder and cook for another minute or so.
2. 2Step 2: Add the remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer slowly for at least 30 minutes.
3. 3Step 3: Remove from heat and allow to cool. Put the sauce in a blender and puree. Adjust seasoning and serve warm or store refrigerated for up to a month.
