Hawaiian Shave Ice

Tap an ingredient or step to check it off.

1. 1Step 1: Get a block of frozen ice and use a shave ice machine to shave it into a bowl.
2. 2Step 2: Mound the ice enough so that it barely holds shape; do not pack it tight in the bowl.
3. 3Step 3: Top with syrup, usually a fruit-based syrup.
4. 4Step 4: Add any desired toppings such as mochi balls, azuki beans, snow cap, ice cream on the bottom, haupia cream, or li hing mui powder.
5. 5Step 5: Eat with a spoon and a straw. Start with the spoon, and because some of the ice will have melted by the time you finish eating, use the straw to suck up the rest.
