These steps follow Perplexity’s help center. Menu names change, so pick the closest match if one differs.
Steps
- In Perplexity, open Plugins in the sidebar. On some accounts it’s Customize → Connectors.
- Choose Add custom, then Add MCP connector.
- Choose Remote.
- Enter the name Saucepan and the URL
https://getsaucepan.com/mcp. - Open Advanced. Set authentication to OAuth and transport to Streamable HTTP.
- Tick the box to confirm you trust the server, then click Add.
- Click the Saucepan card. A Saucepan page opens. Sign in with Apple, Google or an email code, or make a free account there.
- Tap Allow.
Saucepan supports dynamic client registration, so Perplexity registers itself during sign-in. You don’t need a client ID or secret.
Use it in a thread
Name Saucepan in your request. Perplexity’s help says this makes clear which tools you want, so it doesn’t answer from the web instead.
- “Search Saucepan for a 30-minute vegetarian dinner.”
- “Save this to Saucepan: https://…” with a recipe link.
- “Save that recipe to Saucepan.”
- “What can I make from my Saucepan pantry?”
- “Add the ingredients for the lemon chicken to my Saucepan groceries.”
- “Put it on Thursday’s dinner in Saucepan.”
What it can and can’t do
Without signing in, it can search and read Saucepan’s collection of 5,700+ recipes with photos.
Signed in, it can also:
- save a recipe from a link, one Perplexity wrote, or one from the collection,
- search your saved recipes and list your collections,
- read your pantry and tell you what you can make,
- add ingredients or items to your grocery list, and read it,
- read your meal plan and add a recipe or a note to a day.
It can’t delete anything, see your password, or post publicly. Saving from a link works with most recipe sites and food blogs, not social posts or videos. Share those to the Saucepan app.
Disconnect
- In the Saucepan app: Profile → ChatGPT & Claude.
- On the web: getsaucepan.com/app → account menu → ChatGPT and Claude.
Perplexity loses access at once. You can also disconnect it in Perplexity under Plugins → Installed.
