Connect Saucepan to Claude Code, Cursor and other MCP clients

Saucepan is a remote MCP server at https://getsaucepan.com/mcp. In Claude Code, run claude mcp add --transport http saucepan https://getsaucepan.com/mcp, then run /mcp and choose Saucepan to sign in. In Cursor or another MCP client, add a remote Streamable HTTP server with the same URL. No API key, and it is free.

Updated November 4, 2026

The same server works in every MCP client that supports remote servers with OAuth.

Claude Code

  1. Add the server:

    claude mcp add --transport http saucepan https://getsaucepan.com/mcp

    Add --scope user to use it in every project, not only the current one.

  2. Start Claude Code, run /mcp, and choose Saucepan. Or run claude mcp login saucepan from your shell.

  3. A Saucepan page opens in your browser. Sign in and tap Allow.

Cursor

Add Saucepan to ~/.cursor/mcp.json for every project, or .cursor/mcp.json for one:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "saucepan": { "url": "https://getsaucepan.com/mcp" }
  }
}

Cursor opens the Saucepan sign-in the first time it connects.

Other MCP clients

Snippets for Devin Desktop, Zed, Raycast, Goose, LM Studio and Codex CLI are on their own page. For anything else, add a remote server:

  • Transport: Streamable HTTP
  • URL: https://getsaucepan.com/mcp
  • Auth: OAuth. The client finds the sign-in on its own and opens it in your browser.

Try asking

  • “Find a quick gluten-free dinner on Saucepan.”
  • “Save this to Saucepan: https://…” with a recipe link.
  • “Write a weeknight dal for four and save it to Saucepan.”
  • “What can I make from my pantry?”
  • “Add the ingredients for the lemon chicken to my groceries.”
  • “Find three vegetarian dinners in my saved recipes and put them on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.”
  • “What’s on my meal plan this week?”

What it can and can’t do

Without an account, it can search and read Saucepan’s recipe collection: 5,700+ recipes, all with photos, tagged vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, quick and more.

Signed in, it can also:

  • save a recipe from a link, one it wrote in the chat, or one from Saucepan’s recipe collection,
  • search your saved recipes and read your collections,
  • see your pantry and tell you what you can make,
  • add a recipe’s ingredients or single items to your grocery list, and read the list (your household’s list, if you share one),
  • read your meal plan and add a recipe or a note to a day.

It can’t delete anything, see your password, or post anything publicly. It acts as you, so it sees only your account and what people share with you.

Disconnect

  • Remove the server: claude mcp remove saucepan, or delete it from your client’s settings.
  • End the sign-in: in the Saucepan app, Profile → ChatGPT & Claude. On the web, getsaucepan.com/app → account menu → ChatGPT and Claude. The client loses access at once.

Questions

Do I need an API key?

No. Saucepan uses OAuth. Your client opens a Saucepan page in the browser, you sign in with Apple, Google or an email code, and tap Allow.

Is it free?

Yes. The connector is free, and you don't need Saucepan+.

Which transport does it use?

Streamable HTTP at https://getsaucepan.com/mcp. There is nothing to install or run on your computer.

What can it do without signing in?

Search and read Saucepan's recipe collection, 5,700+ recipes with photos. Saving recipes, your grocery list, pantry and meal plan need a free Saucepan account.

Can it change or delete my data?

It can add: save recipes, add grocery items and put a recipe on a day of your meal plan. It can't delete anything, see your password, or post publicly.

How do I disconnect?

Run claude mcp remove saucepan, or remove it in your client's settings. To end the sign-in itself, open Profile, then ChatGPT & Claude in the Saucepan app, or the account menu, then ChatGPT and Claude at getsaucepan.com/app. The client loses access at once.

Is my data used to train AI models?

Saucepan never receives your conversation, only each request, such as search words or a link to save. Recipes you save this way are like anything else you keep in Saucepan: the Privacy Policy explains how they can be used to train AI. What your assistant's provider does with your conversations is set by its own terms and your settings there.
