Save recipes from Instagram Reels and posts

Open the Reel or post in Instagram, tap Share, and choose Saucepan. Saucepan reads the caption and, for a Reel, the text on screen and what the creator says. It turns them into ingredients and steps in your Inbox, with credit to the creator. Review it, then save it.

How it works

  1. Open the Reel or post

    Find the recipe in Instagram.

  2. Tap Share, then Saucepan

If Saucepan is not in the row, scroll to the end, tap More, and turn it on. You only do this once.

  3. Tap Open Saucepan

The recipe waits in your Inbox as a draft, with ingredients and steps.

  4. Review and save

Fix anything that looks off, then save it to your recipes. Cook Mode, timers and Groceries work from the saved copy.

When the caption has no recipe

Plenty of Reels say "recipe in comments" or "link in bio". Saucepan saves what the video shows and says. If the creator never gave amounts, none appear.

  • Check the draft in your Inbox before you save. Amounts are where mistakes show up.
  • If the creator links a blog, share that page instead. A full recipe page imports more cleanly than a caption.
  • Add missing amounts yourself after your first cook.

Then cook it.

A saved recipe opens in Cook Mode: one step at a time, in large type. Tap a time to start a timer. Timers ring like an alarm, even on silent.

Add what you need to Groceries, or add the recipe to your meal plan.

Questions

Does Saucepan access my Instagram account?

You share one post at a time, and Saucepan reads only what you shared. It does not sign in to your account or read your feed.

Does it read the video or only the caption?

Both. It reads the caption, the text on screen and the narration, so a Reel with a spoken recipe still becomes steps.

Can I save a Reel someone sent me in a message?

Yes. Open it from the chat and tap Share, then Saucepan. You can also copy the link and paste it into Saucepan.

What if the creator left out the amounts?

Saucepan can only save what the post shows or says. Fix the draft in your Inbox, or add the amounts after you try it.

Can I publish a recipe I saved from Instagram?

Saved recipes are for your own cooking. Do not publish another creator's recipe as your own.
